There's a poem by William Blake:
THE sun descending in the west,
The evening star does shine;
The birds are silent in their nest.
And I must seek for mine.
The moon, like a flower 5
In heaven's high bower,
With silent delight
Sits and smiles on the night.
It goes on for a few more verses, some are religious, but a lovely poem that could be adapted to a night time prayer, plus a little bit of English literature in there lol :)Thank you for your prayers, very helpful xx

@Abbie - I love your response; it warmed my heart. So nice to know we're not the only ones who solve math problems before bed! ;)

I love this! We're atheists but I just love the poems. We never prayed as kids, but we did listen to stories from my dad or played the "math game" which we LOVED! As the oldest, I'd always get the most difficult problems and loved solving my brothers' problems, too! We all sat in the "big bed" and played the game, then slept. Then as we got bigger, we dragged twin mattresses to the floor on my parents' room! The math game must have worked, b/c we all loved math in school, and now I'm a science teacher, one brother is a civil engineer and the other brother is a builder. We all use math on a daily basis :)

I love these prayer ideas so much! Thanks so much for sharing. I think we may start using one of these.

@Annie - I love the first one as well. I also like "Count Your Blessings" from the rhyme aspect, but I don't like the mention of crosses. I could potentially drop the first two lines... Just might do that...

I love these, in particular the first one. The others still sound a bit religious to me in their tone/approach, but the first is just lovely.

@Wendy - I'm so glad you'll read them! I'm not sure which one I'll read tonight... but the theme of thank you is surely a good one for feeling blessed about your day.
@Kathleen - I'm happy you stopped by! We've enjoyed that song in the past, too! Gratitude is such a powerful & important feeling.

I love this!! Our bedtime routine includes listening (and singing along with) a song called "thanks a lot" by Raffi. We love it because the lyrics really speak to being grateful for what we have and who we have around us. It is like, in many ways, a non religious prayer. And there is something very relaxing about singing softly that I love.

We pray before bed but it is not a routine prayer, it is customized to whatever is going on in our lives. It mostly includes thank yous, which actually are pretty repetitive. So I guess it is a combination of repetition and new so that we feel more connected to what we are saying. Thanks for sharing those prayers. I will read them to my kids. Have a great night!
